The Coronavirus pandemic has posed challenges for democratic countries and important fundamental democratic questions that need to be evaluated
a new. The crisis has also compelled the Adam Institute to adapt “Betzavta- Adam Institute’s group facilitation method” to the new reality. The necessary adaptations include content, technology and understanding of group dynamics.

You’re invited to a two-day seminar (9 am - 12.30 pm /2 - 5.30 pm) in which we’ll explore the adaptations and changes and their meaning for our facilitators around the world.

1. Technological changes:
The pandemic compelled many facilitators to shift from in-person meetings to facilitating on Zoom. This shift is both technical – and of essence. On the one hand, it invites new opportunities for facilitation; on the other hand, it limits other opportunities.
The technological changes forced upon us by the Coronavirus pandemic can be seen as part of a deeper process of increasing digitization of educational and social systems, for which facilitators should be prepared.

2. New democratic questions :
The Coronavirus period raises new as well as old ones, whose meaning has changed these days. In the seminar, we’ll address some like these: The impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on equality between various civic groups and the ways to address these changes.
How can we ensure equal participation/representation in emergency decision-making?
Democratic decision-making in situations that mandate high interdependence amongst people. For example:”Should vaccines be compulsory?”
Democratic decision-making in situations of stress and anxiety, in times of uncertainty, in situations where the influencing factor is not limited by national and political boundaries.

3. Facilitating the “Betzavta – Adam Institute’s facilitation method” on Zoom
Transforming conflict into dilemma on Zoom – Zoom as means to generate dilemmas and follow them:

4. Moderating “Betzavta” in face-to-face meetings but with social distancing:
How to moderate “Betzavta” sessions without physical touch?
How to facilitate with physical distancing between facilitators and participants and between the partners. It should be reiterated that physical distance situations also exist in non-crisis situations and we can now learn from experience how to deal with them.

Das Seminar wird auf Englisch abgehalten.
Technische Voraussetzung: Es wird benötigt ein PC, ein Laptop bzw. ein Tablet, damit alle Teilnehmenden die Gesamtgruppe sehen können. Eine Teilnahme nur mit einem Smartphone ist leider nicht möglich.

Die Vergabe aller Plätze erfolgt nach Eingang der Anmeldungen.
